Below
are the 4 main requirements of the Bioterrorism Act and the
solutions proposed by GTH.
1.
Registration of Foreign Facilities and US Agent:
Entities that sell their food products to the US markets must
register with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and must
appoint a US Agent to represent them in the USA. GTH qualifies
to act as the US Agent for the purposes of this Registration.
2.
Prior Notice: The
FDA requires that it be notified between 5 days and no less
than 8 hours prior to the product reaching the US Port. With
GTH’s advanced electronic processes, the Prior Notice
Submission can be filled out electronically and submitted
to the FDA to comply with their requirements.
3.
Maintain proper Records:
The Law establishes that it is unlawful not to maintain all
required records of every sale made to the US for a period
of one to two years and have them readily available. GTH will
electronically maintain these records at the disposal of the
FDA for the required period.
4.
Administrative Detention:
The detention of food if an officer or qualified FDA employee
finds, during an inspection, examination, or investigation,
credible evidence or information indicating the article presents
a threat of serious adverse health consequences or death to
humans or animals. This can include inadequate Prior Notice
Submission.
